Samantha Ford came out to her car after her breakfast at Dunkin’ Donuts only to find a handwritten note tucked underneath her windshield wiper. At first, she thought it was just another parking ticket which she hurriedly put in her pocket as she buckled her two kids in their seats. Then she sat down at the wheel to read the note written at the back of a white envelope. She was surprised when she found two $20 bills.
The note said:
“I noticed the sticker on the back of your car. Take your hero out to dinner when he comes home. Thank you both for serving. Him deployed and you for waiting. – United States veteran. God bless.”
Ford, whose bumper sticker says, “1/2 of my heart is in Afghanistan,” started to cry.
That’s because her boyfriend, Army Spc. Albert DeSimone, is currently deployed in Afghanistan. Samantha was moved by the kind gesture, so she shared it on a military Facebook page, where it got the attention of millions of fans who also find it amazing.
I just thought I would share with you all what happened to me today! Came out of Dunkin Donuts and found this under my windshield wiper. The sticker on my car says “1/2 my heart is in Afghanistan.” There are no words to describe how I’m feeling right now. Tears in my eyes. I just wish I could thank whoever did this! God bless our troops and all of those who stand behind them.
